We love the joy of a coffee-centred holiday.
Actually… we are rather fond of holidays in general, and look for nearly any reason to celebrate, but being in the coffee industry we are especially fond of the coffee days.
The timing of International Espresso day is perfect for the overeager celebrator. Some of us have been fighting the urge to throw glitter on everything, string up lights, and listen to Bing Crosby sing “White Christmas” since August. Having a mini-holiday in late November is the perfect way to vent our pent-up seasonal cheer.
So today, in honour of International Espresso Day, we are celebrating in a few different ways.
Firstly - By giving our espresso machine a deep clean, removing the shower screens from the group head and running chemicals through the machine to leave it fresh and sparkling. It should be noted that we do this more than once a year (obviously), but today seemed an appropriate day to do it again.
Secondly - We sampled a flight of espressos accompanied by shortbread biscuits. A festive activity that gets more and more exhilarating with every new espresso. Not for the faint of heart (or stomach).
Thirdly, (and finally) - We will be ceasing our regular tasks an hour early to work on formulating a festive espresso cocktail recipe in time for Christmas. The results of this endeavour will be posted in the coming days/weeks after proper trials and tasting sessions (ahem parties) have taken place.
It is our hope that you are enjoying the delights of the day just as much as we are.
Have a Happy Espresso Day!
