ASCA - Brewers Cup and Barista Championship Update

We have been monitoring the Australian Coffee Championship situation closely since ASCA’s initial announcement back in December that they would not be holding Regional and National competitions for the 2023 season. 

Since then, they have received sufficient sponsorship support to reconsider the decision, which was announced at their Annual General Meeting at the beginning of February. 

In their most recent email, the Australian Specialty Coffee Association writes, “ASCA now plans for the Championships to be held between 1st to 14th May, in Melbourne. This will still provide adequate preparation time for the winners to represent Australia at the 2023 world championship in June in Athens, Greece.”

Music to our ears!

It looks like it’s going to be a whirlwind of a competitive season for Australia, but we are delighted to know someone will be in Athens representing our strong coffee culture for the World Brewers Cup and Barista Championship.
