It has been a big year for the Australian coffee community, and a big year for Dalla Corte Australia. As we wrap-up 2022, let’s take a look at some of the more memorable moments in coffee we experienced this year.
February - The price of coffee went up, prompting many Australian cafes to raise their prices in 2022.
March - Dalla Corte begins selling the ICON, our newest machine. An excellent choice for cafes looking to use an online system to better control the consistency and quality of their products.
April - Australia’s Covid-19 restrictions began to gradually lift, opening up more travel opportunities and coffee event possibilities.
June - World of Coffee was held in Milan after being postponed multiple times. World Latte Art, World Coffee in Good Spirits, World Cup Tasters, World Coffee Roasting Championships, and World Cezve/Ibrik Championships were all held during WoC.
September - The Melbourne International Coffee Expo was held, hosting the World Barista Championship and the World Brewers Cup. Australian Anthony Douglas from Axil Coffee took home the title of World Barista Champion to the joy of baristas all over the country.
October: Dalla Corte hosted the first World Espresso Championship, inviting national champions from all over the globe to participate. Austrian Jr. Vargas won the title, taking home 5,000 Euros and exclusive bragging rights.
November: Team Dalla Corte Australia was invited to Bangkok to participate in a Coffee Fair and a Training program, gaining a better understanding of growing trends in the Asian coffee industry. This insight is a valuable tool when forecasting for the Australian market.
